What You Need To Know Before Contacting A Mold Remediation Contractor

Since hurricane Sandy struck NJ, many mold remediation contractors have raised their prices. They have also complicated their systems, to add more percieved value to their service.

The average NJ homeowner, does not understand how mold removal works. It is not a complicated process. Since the hurricane, many have become decieved into believing that it is a complex process. And companies are charging as much as $18,000 just to treat a home for mold, which is quite ridiculous.

The mold removal process can be summed up in 1 sentence. Your walls are cleaned, the mold is treated, we let the walls dry, then encapsulate the walls to prevent further mold growth or moisture penetration.

Is is that simple!
If anyone tells you its not, they are straight out lying to you.

What we have also seen in recent months, are companies recommending things that simply don't need to be done. For instance, if you have visible mold growth in your home, if you can smell it, you do NOT need a mold test done. It is a waste of money. If a homeowner insists on getting one done, we will do it. But we will still recommend against it.

For one thing, as we're waiting for the results to come back from the test, mold is continuing to grow in your home. The tests are going to come back and show that you have a lot of mold, we know that because we've already seen it with our own eyes! So it must be removed as quickly as possible.

The ONLY time we recommend a mold test, is if anyone in the home is symptomatic or has allergies. In those cases we will do an onsite test to determine which areas of the home have the most / least amount of mold. Aside from that, there is no point in running mold tests. Not only can they be expensive, but everytime we've done one in the past, we've wound up removing the mold anyway. Thats why we recommend skipping the tests, and removing the mold asap.
